Adventures in Fundraising Land
I just realized it’s been over a month since I’ve given any update on the film development (though I have been staying busy on the podcast).
This is the joy of fundraising. Things slow down quite a bit.
For the past 10 months I have been able to move the film forward. All the tasks could be completed by me taking action and either brainstorming, outlining, writing, posting, designing, or meeting with people.
But when we get to the part about asking investors for money to put this thing together, it suddenly becomes a test of patience – which it should be. I’m asking people to put their hard-earned money (and lots of it) into a film project. That decision should take time.
I’ll admit, it is taking longer than expected. I put together a rather ambitious timeline for raising this money. (Ambitious is probably being kind, my wife uses another word).
As I’ve written before, I naively expected people to be so impressed with this project I’m working on that the money would just flow in.
Now I realize that it’s a matter of finding the right people, who really care about awareness of the LGBT homeless teen issue, believe this film is one way it can be helped, and have the funds to make it a reality.
We are looking into all sorts of grants and other funding options.
But in the meantime, you can help by sharing our film with your friends (especially if they’re loaded).
I’ll post back next week. Peace and Love…
